Parent Support Advisor

Currently on maternity

Being a parent can bring so much joy. But sometimes, it can be extremely frustrating and a real emotional roller-coaster!

And that is why we have our Parent Support Advisor, because you matter, and we'd like to help.

Our PSA, Gemma Robinson, came to Snapethorpe Primary in March 2019 having previously worked supporting parents and young people in a few different settings, including Targeted Family Services, mainstream High-School, Youth Offending and an Alternative Education Provision.

What can she help with?

Maybe nothing - but she will do her best to support you with anything that might feel like it's making life as a parent difficult. Whether that's a listening ear, someone to share ideas with or a hand with finding something specific, she will aim to give you what you feel you need. And if she or school aren't able to help, we can support you to find someone else who can.

As your PSA she will do her best to :

• Be approachable

• Make sure you feel heard

• Listen to you without judgement

• Work with you to achieve any changes you might like to see

• Help you find and access other services

• Keep your children safe

What to do if you'd like to speak to her?

• In school: She will usually be on the Nursery door at drop off, and outside Main Reception at pick up
• Call or text (See below for details)
• Also, school might remind you about the role as PSA and ask if you'd like Gemma to contact you

REMEMBER: Sometimes, it can help just to share worries or frustrations. Contacting, or being asked to contact our PSA does NOT mean you are failing as a parent!

Parent information
There is a Parent notice board in the Nursery Entrance, with lots of information to help you invest in yourselves as parents, from education, to well being, to parenting. Please take a look and if there is anything you would like to see on there, please let Gemma know.

Parenting together: The Primary Years group

Our new Parenting Together groups will run throughout the year. They are held over 6 weeks, and aim to give you a space to be yourself (with no pressure to speak or join in), where you can explore different ways to manage those difficult situations at home and enjoy more happy times together as a family. Even if you can take away one new strategy, maybe it would be worth it?
