Sporting Competitions

Year 5 and 6 Inter Class Football Competition 

A mixture of boys and girls from years 5 and 6 participated in an Inter Class Football Competition across week 4 of our first half term.  I would like to say a huge well done to all of our pupils who participated within this event, showing high levels of resilience, aspirational goal setting and engagement. All matches were played with the upmost respect and sportsmanship shown between pupils.

Athletics

A mixture of boys and girls from years 6 participated in an 'Athletics Competition' at Trinity Cathedral Academy. Pupils practiced a range of Athletic events from the Olympics and Paralympics, before undertaking a number of competitive races. II would like to say a huge well done to our pupils who performed admirably and gave their all during the competition. Pupils showed high levels of sportsmanship and came finished the competition in third place.

O.A.A

A number of year 5 pupils undertook a range of teambuilding games and map skill based activities as part of an O.A.A competition. Pupils had to work collaboratively together using  teamwork, communication and resilience. 

Cricket Competition

A mixture of boys and girls from years 6 participated in a cricket competition against a number of schools from the local area. I would like to say a huge well done to our pupils who performed admirably and gave their all during the competition. Pupils showed high levels of sportsmanship.

Rounders Competition

A mixture of five boys and five girls from years 6 participated in the 'TAC Games Rounders Competition' at Trinity Cathedral Academy. Pupils  competing against a number of local schools I would like to say a huge well done to our pupils who performed admirably and gave their all during the competition. Pupils showed high levels of sportsmanship and came finished the competition with two victories and two defeats.

Boys 7-A-Side Football Competition

A mixture of ten boys from years 5 and 6 participated in the 'Year 5 and 6, 7-A-Side Football Competition' competing against a number of local schools I would like to say a huge well done to our year 5 and 6 boys, who participated in this event. Our fabulous students won their cup competition in a tense finally, that after having a goal disallowed and striking the cross bar, ended 0-0. Bravely a number of pupils put themselves forward to participate in a penalty shootout to decide the winners, which we managed to win 3-2. I would also like to add an extra special well done, as the sportsmanship, that our pupils showed was outstanding and well received by staff from other schools, who made comment on how we should be very proud of our pupils.

Kabaddi Competition

Seven of our pupils participated within a Kabaddi tournament at Trinity Cathedral Academy. Being introduced to a new sport, our pupils were extremely excited to undertake this event. Working as a team, pupils created their own tactics to be used during matches, showing adaptability, resilience and understanding of one anothers strengths and weaknesses. I am delighted to say that Snapethorpe Primary ended the competition in 1st place.

Cross Country Competition
 
I would like to say a huge well done to all of the boys and girls who participated in the Schools Cross Country Competition.

All pupils were outstanding and put in an unbelievable effort.

This performance has resulted in eleven of our pupils qualifying for the Wakefield Cross Country Finals at Crigglestone All Black ARLFC.
