Autumn 1

Who Am I?

Our Creative Theme for Autumn 1 is 'Who Am I?'

Over the course of the term the children will be settling into life at Snapethorpe Nursery, getting to know their new teachers, making friends and finding their way around the indoor and outdoor classrooms. They will be encouraged to learn alongside and with their peers in order to form positive relationships and develop their personal, social and communication skills. The children will be given plenty of opportunities to talk about themselves and those they love as well as their likes and dislikes.

Autumn 2

How Will You Celebrate?

Our Creative Theme for Autumn 2 is 'How Will You Celebrate?'

To begin our learning we will be having a party packed with cake, music, balloons and games - all the components that make for a great celebration! Over the remained of the half term we will be learning about and participating in Bonfire Night, Diwali, Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations and traditions. We will also be using clay to construct Diva lamps, baking parkin, listening to the story of Rama and Sita, making Rangoli pattern calendars and, of course, creating beautiful Christmas cards for our loved ones!

What's Your Plan, Mother Nature?

Our Creative Theme for Spring 1 is What's Your Plan, Mother Nature?'

Over the course of the half term the new to nursery children will be settling into life at Snapethorpe, getting to know their new teachers, making friends and finding their way around the indoor and outdoor classrooms. The existing children will be encouraged to learn alongside them, being good role models and forming positive relationships.

For our creative 'hook' we will be exploring the school grounds and helping to litter pick to ensure we are all taking care of our natural environment. We will be closely monitoring the weather here as well as using the internet to research extreme weather in other parts of the world. In the indoor and outdoor water provision we will be experimenting with melting and freezing and we will end the half term by shopping for spring vegetables and using them to make soup!

Spring 2

What Will It Be?

Our Creative Theme for Spring 2 is 'What Will It Be?'

During the theme we will be planting seeds and watching to see what they grow into, tasting brownies and guessing the flavour, matching animals to their young and ordering the lifecycle of a butterfly watching as it morphs from an egg.

Enter a World of Pure Imagination...

On Thursday 7th March the children (and adults) participated in World Book Day celebrations. Everybody dressed up as their favourite story book characters and enjoyed a day of role-play, reading and make-believe.

Everybody looked fantastic in their costumes and it was wonderful to see just how much effort everybody had gone to in order to make the day completely unforgettable.

Take a sneak peak at the slideshow below and see if you can guess our favourite books!

P.S: Well done to Rosie for winning the potato character competition with your fabulous Red Riding Hood themed entry - Why Grandma what big teeth you have!

Summer

Who Will Save the Day?

Our Creative Theme for Summer is 'Who Will Save the Day?'

During the theme we will have a Police Station in the role-play area so that we can be the heroes! We will be making buns for a superhero party in the malleable area, making our own capes, having a visit from some firefighters, sorting a suitcase of uniform clues and baking a delicious carrot cake - because, of course, carrots help you see in the dark and if that's not a super power then I don't know what is!

Our books of the week this half term will include the 'Here to Help' selection, 'Evil Pea', 'Veggies Assemble', 'Hansel and Gretel', 'Supertato' and 'Superhero Max'!
