Summer 1 & 2
Who Lives on a Farm Like This?
Our Creative Theme for the Summer Term is 'Who Lives on a Farm Like This?'
On Friday 23rd June we had a visit from Ian's Farm. Ian brought some donkeys, chickens, rabbits, tortoises, guinea pigs, ducklings, chicks, pygmy goats, Shetland ponies, pigs and llamas for us to observe, stroke and learn about. The children were really well-behaved throughout the visit and made all of the Nursery staff very proud. They enjoyed finding out about the animals and Ian had lots of interesting facts to share with us. Oh and the children got to milk Daisy the cow!
Who Lived Happily Ever After?
Our Creative Theme for Spring 2 was 'Who Lived Happily Ever After?'
Over the course of the theme the children enjoyed baking gingerbread men that did not run away (thankfully), making porridge for the bears, trip-trapping over the billy goat's bridge, planting beans for Jack and constructing houses for the three little pigs.
'Have You Seen the Wild Things?'
Our Creative Theme for Spring 1 was 'Have You Seen the Wild Things?'
The children really enjoyed this theme particularly when they were visited by the Gruffalo himself who read them his story! The also read 'Not Now, Bernard', 'The Gruffalo's Child' and Where the Wild Things Are'. The children created wild thing masks and used them in when participating in a 'Wild Thing Parade'!
During this half term we also welcomed some new children into the Nursery. All of the children have settled into life at Snapethorpe really well and have made lots of friends!
Our Creative Theme for Autumn 2 was 'Hujambo?'
The children enjoyed an African dance workshop in which they moved rhythmically to a range of drum beats. Over the course of the theme the children also created dot work prints and went on a lion hunt! Our learning was focused on Understanding the World and the children thought carefully about the people and communities that create the world in which we live.
What Can You See Through the Window?
Our Creative Theme for Autumn 1 was 'What Can You See Through the Window?'
Throughout the Creative Theme we will take the time to learn about one another, our local community and our school. Personal, Social and Emotional Development will be our main focus and we will learn how to get along with other children, how to share and how to build positive relationships with the teachers and our peers. We will decide what our class Mission Statement and rules will be and we will get to know the daily routine that takes place in the Nursery. We will be encouraged to take in our surroundings and discover how to use the continuous provision independently.
Keep checking our page to find out what, and who, we can see through the window!
